Description: Near New Vintage 1980 Ruger Speed Six .357 Revolver Offered here for sale and just acquired a few steps away from the original Ruger factory and our offices in Southport, CT is this vintage 1980 powerful .357 Magnum stainless Speed Six revolver.  With Southport being the home of the Ruger Collectors Assc. (RCA) in Southport we have acquired literally thousands of specimens made at Ruger over our more than 5 decades in the business. This firearm is part of Ruger’s classic “Six-series” double-action revolvers, which also included the Ruger Security?Six and Ruger Service?Six. These models were widely used by law-enforcement and civilian shooters from the early 1970s until the late 1980s. Overview of the Ruger Speed Six Production years: 1972–1988 Action: Double-action / single-action revolver Capacity: 6 rounds Caliber: commonly .357 Magnum (also fires .38 Special) Frame: Medium frame with fixed sights Finish options: Blued carbon steel or stainless steel Barrel length: Typically 2.75 The Speed Six specifically was designed with a rounded butt frame, which made it easier to conceal and comfortable for smaller hands compared with the square-butt Security-Six. Serial number prefix 157 corresponds to circa 1980 production for the Speed Six line. Barrel: 2¾-inch “snub-nose,” one of the more desirable configurations because it was favored for plain-clothes law-enforcement and concealed carry. Finish: Brushed stainless steel, which resists corrosion and holster wear. Grips: Original factory checkered Ruger grips (often walnut with Ruger medallions on stainless models).
