Mass Arms Co. Smith Carbine, chambered in .50 Cal. Features include: breech loading single shot rifle, 22 in. part octagon/part round tip-down barrel, single barrel band, "MANUFACTURED BY/MASS ARMS CO/CHICOPEE FALLS", a fourth breech marking "ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE/BALTIMORE, U.S.A." and "SMITH'S PATENT/JUNE 23 1857" in three lines and refers to an agent for this model at the time, front sight blade, folding leaf rear sight, barrel release latch forward of trigger within trigger guard, walnut forearm and straight grip buttstock, barrel release latch forward of trigger within trigger guard, 7 lbs. 8 oz. Wood stock is in great shape with little wear to it, apart from some small gouges, and a small crack on the lower tang. Bluing has turned to a brown patina and the receiver shows light surface pitting. Bore still has decent rifling. .50 Caliber
