Smith Patent 1873 revolver is a five-shot, single-action spur trigger handgun chambered in .32 Rimfire. It features a 3-inch barrel with fixed sights and a nickel-plated finish. The frame design follows the compact pattern typical of late 19th-century pocket revolvers, with a smooth wood bird’s head grip that provides a rounded contour at the butt. The revolver bears serial number 4646 and represents an example of Smith’s patented mechanism produced during the post-Civil War period. Operation is through a single-action system requiring manual cocking of the hammer before each shot. The bore shows darkening consistent with age and use, while the nickel finish exhibits the expected patina of an antique firearm. This revolver is in used condition and retains its original spur trigger configuration. Mechanical details, including cylinder rotation and hammer engagement, reflect the design standards of small-frame rimfire revolvers from the 1870s. Included are the revolver itself with its fixed sights and wood grips. No additional accessories or packaging are specified. The combination of the nickel finish, 3-inch barrel, and bird’s head grip typifies Otis A. Smith’s compact revolver design from the era, produced under his 1873 patent for small-caliber rimfire handguns.
