The Beretta 96 is a full-size, DA/SA semi-automatic pistol chambered in .40 S&W, introduced in the 1990s as a more powerful, law-enforcement-focused alternative to the 9mm Beretta 92FS/M9. It features an open-slide design, aluminum alloy frame, and 11–12 round capacity, known for high reliability, durability, and a "snappy" recoil.
