The Smith & Wesson Pre-Model 39 is a rare (approx. 797-900 made 1954-1956) 9mm DA/SA alloy-framed pistol, marking S&W's first entry into the 9mm market and the birth of American "Wonder Nines". Developed for 1950s US Army trials, it features a 4-inch barrel, 8-round single-stack mag, and short safety/tang.
