Description: Guns Listing ID: 638981 This is a very early production run of the UMC Model 51, which was produced in1919. The 4 digit serial along with the 9 serrations on the side and lack of Remington markings on the right side. This is a true must have for any serious gun collector. All Model 51s are marked with a serial number on the left side of the frame, with the prefix “PA" for Pedersen Automatic. The early .380 Model 51s had 9 vertical serrations--wide and U shaped--on the rear of the slide. There were no markings on the right side, and no caliber designation (except on the magazine). At some point, the Remington trade mark was added on the right side of the receiver, and slides were given 15 narrow, sawtooth serrations. Most Model 51s will have a small anchor stamped on the right side of the trigger guard, inside the slide in the hammer well, and inside the frame just below where the barrel sits--these are inspection stamps. The Remington Model 51 was manufactured between 1918 and 1926, with some assembly of remaining parts continuing until 1934. Designed by John Pedersen, this innovative semi-automatic pocket pistol was primarily produced in .380 ACP and .32 ACP, with roughly 65,000 units manufactured in total.
