James Purdey & Sons Compact Double Gun Case – Rare “Toe-Under” Design for a matched pair
Offered for sale is a compact vintage gun case by James Purdey & Sons featuring the rare “toe-under” configuration.
The barrel compartment measures 30 inches, and the case was photographed with a gun having a 14½" length of pull to demonstrate fit. There is approximately 1 inch of additional clearance, allowing accommodation of a slightly longer stock. (The stock/action shown in the photos is for demonstration purposes only and is not included.)
The interior includes 12-gauge snap cap compartments and traditional partitioning. One stock compartment shows a small cut likely made to accommodate a pistol-grip stock.
The case retains a Purdey trade label referencing the King of England, a nice period detail collectors appreciate.
Condition notes:
