A Cody Firearms Museum letter accompanies this fantastic Winchester Model 1886 Takedown confirming the configuration and desirable .45-70 chambering. The rifle shipped on November 20, 1905 and remains in fabulous all-original condition. The gun retains the majority of original blue finish which is untouched, showing just a little hand carry wear on the top of the receiver as the only real call out. The semi-deluxe wood was certainly an upgrade given the figure, and the furniture retains the majority of original finish with some minor scattered handling marks along with a small area of thinning on the forend as is common. The original Niedner buttplate is excellent with crisp checkering. The bore is mint and the mechanical working order is flawless. Note the strong original case colors on the lever. Overall an exceptional example of the model in a sought after and all-original configuration.
