Vintage 1970 Old Model Bearcat .22 Revolver- One of Last Made!!   Offered here for sale and just acquired is this vintage 1970 version of the famed Ruger Bearcat revolver. This specimen is the an original  Bearcat version and was acquired just a few blocks away from the original Ruger factory (and our retail store) in Southport, CT. With our home here and through our operation of the Ruger Collectors Assc. (RCA) we have over the last 50 years acquired literally thousands of specimens from the company.
The Ruger Bearcat was made from 1958-1970. It has an aluminum frame. The Super Bearcat made from 1971-1974 has a STEEL frame which was more strengthened.


(Serial 90-21157)- The “90-” prefix- Ruger began using around 1969 after the Gun Control Act required standardized serial numbering. According to records serial number 90-09801 was made at the  start of 1970 production making it one of the last Old Model Bearcats made.
Production of the original Bearcat ended shortly after in 1970, and Ruger replaced it with the Super Bearcat in 1971. As an Old Model Bearcat it has an:
  • Engraved cylinder (distinctive Bearcat feature)
  • Brass-colored trigger guard
  • Three-screw action (typical Ruger “Old Model” lockwork)
