Description:
German swivel breech full stock flintlock rifle with two 31 ¾” round smoothbore barrels. Steel hardware with brass furniture and walnut and maple stocks. The barrels are marked Michel Ba9er (Bayer) Gewehr, and N 15 Park. The buttstock is walnut while the forestock appears to be maple. Michel Bayer was a firearms manufacturer in Wurzburg Germany starting in 1730.

The rifle is in fair condition overall. The flintlock mechanism is functional and rotates accordingly, the hammer holds in the cocked position. The bore has not been inspected. The buttstock has a notch cut in it (purpose unknown.) There is a lead inlay stamped U.S. in the butt stock. The brass butt plate is a period replacement that would have originally been used on a rifle with the patch box. The forestock appears to be a replacement. It is unknown if this was replaced during the period of use or later. The ramrod may be a replacement. Manufactured circa 1730-1750.
