1885 HIGHWALL .38-55 MADE BY THE BALLARD RIFLE AND CARTRIDGE CO., CODY, WYOMING. NOTE: I was a dealer for the Ballard Rifle and Cartridge Company from their beginning in 1998 until they sold out in 2004 and no rifles were made afterwards. Their quality was impeccable. Only at the very end of their business did they make the 1885 Highwall rifle and very few were completed. This standard sporter features a 30” standard half-octagon barrel and straight grained walnut finished in the traditional Winchester classic reddish/brown. The forend has the Winchester ebony wedge in the schnable tip. Gorgeous case colored action, breech block, lever and crescent butt plate. There is no rear barrel dovetail and the rifle is fitted with a vernier tang sight adjustable for windage and elevation paired with a traditional Rocky Mountain blade front sight. This rifle appears to be new inside and out. Super hard to find as so few were made. Amazing quality.
