This beautiful Winchester Model 21 Duck, manufactured circa 1951, is a quintessential example of postwar American double-gun craftsmanship built expressly for serious waterfowl work. Unlike many contemporary doubles, the Model 21 was engineered for exceptional strength and quality and the 32-inch barrels are well suited for deliberate swing dynamics and sustained follow-through on passing birds. The barrels are now equipped with a full set of 6 Briley Chokes so your options are almost limitless (Full, IMod, Mod, LMod, IC, and Skeet. The barrels retain strong original bluing in very good condition, with only minor handling marks and slight high point thinning visible under close inspection. The bores remain mirror bright and shiny with no dings or dongs visible within the bores. The receiver shows minimal edge wear, with crisp contours and clear markings. The top lever sits slightly left of center indicating continued mechanical integrity and the expected wear to the locking surfaces. Internal components exhibit the robust machining and careful fitting characteristic of Winchester’s custom shop-era production, with ejectors functioning positively and trigger pulls remaining clean and consistent. The walnut pistol grip stock and beavertail forend display an incredible well-figured grain typical of the Duck grade, offering durability without sacrificing visual appeal. The checkering remains sharp and well-defined, with no indications of wear. The stock finish presents very well, showing only faint handling marks consistent with careful and limited sporting use rather than neglect. The comb on this shotgun was modified to adjustable by reknowned gunsmith Bill Skinner who is clearly adept at his work. LOP is currently 14.5 and topped with a modern KickEzz pad. Overall, this 1950s Model 21 Duck stands as a mechanically sound and aesthetically well-preserved example of one of America’s most respected side-by-side shotguns. The growing demand of this model speaks for itself. They will continue to appreciate as expected due to the nature of quality workmanship which is no longer commonly found.
