The buckle is constructed as a two-piece plate with an outer circular frame and an applied center disk bearing the monogram. The background behind the letters displays a fine lined texture typical of late 19th-century cast brass belt plates. The reverse retains two rectangular belt bars used for attaching the plate to a leather waist belt. This construction is consistent with state militia, fraternal, or organizational belt plates produced during the post-Civil War militia period. Monogram plates of this type were often worn on ceremonial militia belts, veteran organization uniforms, or fraternal military regalia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Condition: Good antique condition with natural patina and honest wear consistent with age. The belt bars remain intact and the plate displays well. Period: Circa 1875–1910 Material: Brass Design: “CN” monogram within circular frame SOLD |
