The buckle is constructed as a two-piece plate with an outer circular frame and an applied center disk bearing the monogram. The field behind the letters shows a textured pattern typical of late 19th-century cast brass belt plates. The reverse retains two rectangular belt bars designed for attaching the plate to a leather waist belt. This form of construction is consistent with militia, veteran organization, or commemorative belt plates produced during the post-Civil War era. Monogram plates such as this were often worn on ceremonial militia belts or Confederate veteran organization uniforms during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Condition: Good antique condition with natural patina and honest wear consistent with age. The belt bars remain intact and the plate displays well. Period: Circa 1870–1910 Material: Brass Design: “CS” monogram within circular frame SOLD |
