This style of buckle was commonly used on leather belts during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The buckle consists of a solid brass square frame with a central bar and a split or forked prong that secured the belt through punched holes in the leather. Buckles of this type were widely used on civilian work belts, utility belts, and occasionally on military or equipment belts where durable, simple hardware was required. The forked prong design allowed the buckle to grip leather securely while distributing pressure across the belt hole. The heavy cast brass construction and natural aged patina are consistent with period belt hardware from approximately the late 1800s through the early 1900s. Condition: Good antique condition with natural aged patina and honest surface wear from use. The prong remains intact and the buckle is structurally solid and functional. Material: Brass Type: Square frame belt buckle Design: Forked prong with center bar SOLD |
