Description:
The Colt SP1 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .223. Produced by Colt, this model represents the early civilian version of the AR-15 platform, configured with the classic lightweight receiver and fixed carry handle upper. The rifle uses a direct-impingement gas system and features the traditional 20-inch barrel associated with the original design. It retains the standard front sight base and triangular handguards characteristic of the SP1 series. This SP1 is used. The finish and mechanical configuration follow Colt's standard production for this model, with the anodized aluminum receiver and parkerized steel barrel components. The rifle includes the integral charging handle within the upper receiver and the two-position safety selector typical of semi-automatic operation. The lower receiver maintains the early pattern contours and markings consistent with Colt manufacture during the SP1 production period. .223/5.5
