The Winchester Model 43 in .218 Bee is a compact bolt-action rifle produced between 1948 and 1953, designed for small-game hunting and vermin with low recoil and effective accuracy up to 200–250 yards. It features a detachable magazine and a lightweight design, with roughly 70,000 units made in various calibers. Key Details of the Model 43 in .218 Bee: Production Era: Manufactured from 1948-1953, with some remaining stock sold through 1957. This rifle has serial number 3444 which puts its production as one of the first in 1948. Action & Capacity: Bolt-action with a 5-shot detachable magazine, often considered a refined, scaled-up version of the Model 69A. Stock Options: Standard model and a "Special" model, which featured checkered walnut stocks and a capped pistol grip. Variations: Straight bolt handles were used initially; a swept/bent bolt handle was introduced early on to accommodate scope use.
