Description: Guns Listing ID: 637737 Egyptian Rasheed Rifle chambered in 7.62x39 made by the UAR. These have the same form factor as an SKS however that is where the similarities end. These are very interesting rifles and are not as commonly seen The Rasheed (or Rashid) was developed in the late 1950s by Egypt‚s Ministry of Military Production as a modern selective-fire service rifle to replace aging Lee-Enfields and Hakim battle rifles. Designed by Swedish engineer Erik Eklund (who previously created the Hakim and Ljungman AG-42), it incorporates a direct-impingement gas system similar to the Swedish designs but scaled down and chambered for the Soviet 7.62x39mm Only approximately 8,000 were produced between 1960 and 1968 at Factory 54 in Cairo . Issued primarily to elite units of the Egyptian Army and police forces, the Rasheed saw limited combat use during the 1967 Six-Day War and Yemen campaigns. Its distinctive folding bayonet, SKS-like appearance, and extremely low production numbers have made it one of the most coveted Cold War-era military carbines among collectors worldwide. Egyptian Rasheed begins at the muzzle with a 20.5-inch barrel featuring a permanently attached folding cruciform bayonet and protective muzzle cap The buttstock features a steel buttplate. Sights consist of a protected blade front and tangent rear adjustable to 1000 meters. Included is one detachable 10-round magazine.
