Description:
A very rare Bernard Damascus barreled factory original 2 barrel set. This gun was the subject of a wonderful full length feature Double Gun Journal article, volume 20 issue 3. Originally ordered and owned by William H. Wallace of Sebewaing, MI. Wallace was a conservationist, politician, Mason, and successful businessman.
Gun ordered as a two barrel set with 26" and 30" barrels each with its own splinter forend. Frame is beautifully engraved with game scenes and fine early Parker scroll. Most interesting is the large setter on the trigger plate, a very unusual and rare pattern! Gun built with double triggers, extractors, and auto safety. Gun is hosued in a modern leather 2 barrel set case with accessories. The gun is also accompanied by a folio of provenance and original photos of the period showing this gun and Wallace with it in use.
Gun remains in very nice original condition. Barrels with nearly all of their bold and vivid Bernard damascus pattern. Frame with some original color remaining and crisp engraving. Stocks are excellent with nearly all of their proper hand rubbed finishes. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are excellent. Case is excellent.
