Description:
Christoph Funk in Suhl was one of the top German Double gun makers of the pre WW2 Era, specialising in top quality Drillings and both SxS and O/U shotguns. From 1933 thru 1939 their receivers were made froma stronger and lighter Siemens Alloy allowing maneagable drillings and doubles.
This little 16 Gauge weighs 6lbs with 29.5" Nitro proofed barrels and a 14.5" LOP. It is built on a sidelock system with greener crossbolt and the receiver has the typical upland and waterfowl game scene engraving. The Hammers and top lever have gold inlay as do the barrels. It has sling fittings on the barrel and butt.
Barrels Read "Christoph Funk - In Suhl" as well as " Fluss- Stahl" & "Krupp Essen" and the bottom of each barrel is stamped Nitro with the Suhl proof.
Wood and metal are spotless with only one slight ding on the bottom grip.
Barrels are choked Full and Modified and action is very tight and the inside has light pitting.
This is a very unique shotgun from Christoph Funk as I have not seen many hammer guns in this class and condition.
