The High Standard Supermatic Citation Model 106 Military is a classic American .22 LR semi-automatic target pistol, produced in the mid-to-late 1960s as part of High Standard’s premium competition lineup. It represents a refinement of earlier Supermatic designs, tailored specifically for serious target shooters and bullseye competition.
This model is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and uses a single-action trigger with a detachable 10-round magazine. It is widely known for its excellent accuracy, smooth operation, and high-quality construction—traits that made High Standard pistols dominant in competitive shooting during that era.
One of the defining characteristics of the Model 106 Military is its redesigned “military-style" grip frame, which mimics the grip angle of the M1911 pistol. This change was made to appeal to competitive shooters who wanted a consistent feel between rimfire and centerfire stages.
The pistol also introduced a bridge-mounted adjustable rear sight, fixed to the frame rather than the slide. This provided a more stable and precise sighting system compared to earlier designs, improving consistency and accuracy.
