Description:
A DWM pistol with an 8-inch barrel is almost certainly the Lange Pistole 08 (LP.08), colloquially known as the "Artillery Luger". Manufactured by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM), this variant was officially adopted by the German Kaiser in 1913 for use by field artillery crews, machine gun teams, and later, elite "Stormtrooper" units during World War 1. The LP.08 was intended as a lightweight personal defense weapon for troops whose primary duties (like operating field guns) made standard rifles too cumbersome. It is highly prized by collectors today, especially examples with matching serial numbers and original stock/holster rigs. Matching Serial #'s None
