Introduced in the late 1950s/early 1960s as a more accessible yet still London-finished alternative to the flagship Royal sidelock, the Northwood was built on a scalloped boxlock action (often a high-quality Webley & Scott or Birmingham trade action) that was then engraved, regulated, proofed, and finished in Holland & Holland’s London workshops. The rib engraving “The Northwood, 33 Bruton Street, London” dates this specific gun to the mid-1980s through mid-1990s, after H&H moved into their iconic Bruton Street flagship showroom. At just 5 lbs 4 oz with a straight-grip stock and double triggers, it was purpose-built for walked-up shooting — fast, instinctive, and perfectly balanced for grouse, woodcock, quail, or driven birds. 28" barrels with Improved Modified and Modified chokes give excellent field patterning.
