Description:
The Smith & Wesson Model 29-4 is a large-frame (N-frame) double-action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum and .44 Special. Produced starting in 1988, the "dash-4" revision is historically significant for introducing the Endurance Package, a series of internal enhancements designed to increase the firearm's longevity under the stress of heavy magnum loads. Modified Yoke Lock-up has been redesigned to handle long-term heavy use and prevent the cylinder from opening under extreme recoil. The Radiused Frame Studs were given a radius to minimize wear and improve structural reliability. The 29-4 Non-Recessed Cylinders unlike the three models before it lacks the recessed "counter-bored" chambers found on older models, meaning cartridge rims sit on top of the cylinder face rather than flush. The Pinned Barrel Removal model uses a "crush fit" barrel rather than the traditional pinned barrel seen in earlier iterations. .44 Magnum
