Description: ***Curio & Relic*** California Shipping Dealer*** This is a minty example of the Swedish designed and military issued AG-42B or Ljungman and the second adoption/corrected version (see text below). Features a 25.5" barrel and feeding from a detachable 10 round box magazine, although it's intended to be loaded via stripper clips. All parts numbered are matching and this rifle has no import mark. Making it a very rare variation and one that came in prior to 1968. This was Sweden's Semi Auto Rifle during the second world war. It shoots the incredible 6.5x55 cartridge. These were manufactured in two separate years, this 1943 and 1945. The Ag-42 is operated by means of a direct impingement gas system, similar to that of the later, French MAS-49 rifle and AR-15. The Ag-42 also uses a tilting breech block like the Tokarev SVT-38/SVT-40, the MAS-49 and FN FAL rifles. After a number of issues had been discovered, including a serious problem with rusting gas tubes, the existing set of rifles were modified between 1953 and 1956, and the reworked rifles were designated this Ag42B. Modifications to this rifle include a stainless-steel gas tube, adding the two ergonomic gripping knobs on the breech cover, a new manual safety to prevent breech cover induced hand injuries, a new elevation knob for the rear sight, a rubber case-deflector, a revised magazine release and a new cleaning rod. This example is about perfect as mentioned. It shows NO cracks or split normally found in these stocks behind the receiver and at the gas block. The action is extremely clean and looks to be fired very little. The bore is a 10 of 10 and the stock and metal rate very high at 99%. Hard to upgrade on this very collectible rifle.
