This is a genuine Parker-Hale Whitworth Volunteer Rifle in .451 caliber with the classic hexagonal bore. Made in Birmingham, England, it is a high-quality reproduction of the famous long-range Whitworth sniper/target rifle used during the American Civil War.
The 36" barrel retains good original blue finish and is clearly marked “PARKER-HALE BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND.” The case-colored percussion lock is marked “PARKER HALE.” The one-piece walnut stock is checkered at the wrist and forearm with brass furniture and has been given additional finish. It is drilled for a tang sight (sights are currently absent) and the ramrod is missing.
Condition is very good with a fine, bright bore and mechanically sound action. This rifle is a solid shooter or restoration candidate for Whitworth enthusiasts and black-powder target shooters.
