Ruger SP101 – 9mm – 2.25" Barrel – 5 Shot – Nicely upgraded
The 9mm cartridge is the most popular, most commonly used caliber for both self defense and general shooting. Not everyone, however, wants to use a semi-automatic handgun. Some folks prefer the simplicity, reliability and concealability of a revolver. Checking both of those boxes is this Ruger SP101, chambered in 9mm.
Ruger originally shipped this revolver (serial number 578-02536) in 2019. You could have fooled us on that date because this one looks to be much more recent. It’s clearly been well cared for. It’s also been nicely upgraded. Nothing extravagant, just simple things that give you a better, nicer looking revolver.
In May, 2021, the owner had a trigger upgrade performed by Texas Gun Experience. According to the owner, the double action pull is now just 5.5 lbs and the single action is a crisp 2.5 lb pull. We can vouch for the great feel of the trigger in both single and double action. A very nicely done, worthwhile upgrade. The grip panels have also been upgraded and the stained wood in the black rubber grip is one of our favorite looks. If you’re a fan of the black, grooved original grips, they are included with your purchase.
The barrel on the SP101 is 2.5 inches and the cylinder holds 5 shorts. The revolver also has a transfer bar safety. The front sight is a black ramp and the rear is an integrated sight channel. The finish is a very attractive stainless.
Those upgraded grips are in Near Mint condition. The metal finish is also Near Mint. Take a look at the photos and you’ll see what we mean. Also, the bore is nice and minty while the barrel is clean and bright. Rifling looks to be very sharp and clear.
If you’re in the mood for something different than your striker fired pistols but you want to stick with your favored 9mm round, this revolver may be exactly what you’re after.
Purchase includes the revolver, original case, 10 lb. hammer spring, shell removal tool, owner’s manual, original grip inserts and numerous moon clips.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this revolver. We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are comfortable with the condition of the revolver.
