The Colt MKIV Series 70 Gold Cup National Match is a premium, target oriented version of the classic 1911 semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 Auto. Introduced in 1970 as an evolution of the 1957 National Match, this model is specifically engineered for competitive bullseye shooting and precision target work. It is widely regarded by collectors and shooters as a "gold standard" for out-of-the-box accuracy in a 1911 platform. Features a blued carbon steel frame and slide with a flat-top grooved rib to reduce glare. The Series 70 slide is strengthened compared to earlier models, making it capable of handling both light target loads and standard defensive ammunition. The 70 Series preferred by many competitive shooters over the later Series 80 for its inherently smoother and more consistent trigger pull.
