Description:
The Smith & Wesson Model 642-2 Airweight is a small-frame (J-Frame) double-action-only (DAO) revolver chambered in .38 Special +P. Part of the Centennial series, it is defined by its completely enclosed hammer, which makes it "snag-free" and ideal for drawing from a pocket or deep concealment. The "642-2" designation specifically refers to a design revision that includes the internal trigger lock (located just above the cylinder release), though S&W also produces versions without this lock for users who prefer a simpler mechanism. The revolver requires a long, deliberate trigger pull (typically 10–12 lbs) for every shot, which serves as a primary safety mechanism. Due to its light weight, recoil can be "snappy," especially with +P defensive loads. .38 Special + P
