Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. Lever Action Model 402 Palomino Series Hammerless Repeating Rifle with a Leather Sling, chambered in .22 Rimfire, made circa 1959-1964 in North Haven, Connecticut. This gun is the carbine version of the Model 400 rifle. This is a great gun for doing some rabbit or squirrel hunting or just taking it out to the woods and peppering a few tin cans on a sunny afternoon. Its tubular magazine held 15 rounds of Long Rifle, 17 rounds of Longs, and 20 rounds of Shorts. It features a Monte Carlo stock with a checkered pistol grip and a semi-beavertail forearm.
The overall condition is excellent. Original finish. Excellent, crisp action. Markings are sharp. The bore is shiny with serviceable rifling. Fine stock. Fine leather sling. Nicely checkered on the wrist and forarm.
