Description: General Specs: Mauser, c1939, 7.65x53mm, 8lbs. 5oz., LOP 13 1/8" Serial Number: 26547 Vintage firearms is pleased to offer a Belgian Mauser Model 1935. The Mauser action is ubiquitous, having been employed in some fashion by over 30 countries, known for being a strong and reliable action. Belgium is no exception, being the first country to adopt the Model 1889. After World War I, Belgium supplemented its locally produced Mauser Model 1889 rifles with Mauser 98 rifles received as war reparations from Germany. In 1935, Belgium introduced a new service rifle after financial limitations prevented them from adopting FN’s Model 24 and Model 30. The Model 1935 combined features of the Mauser 1889 and Gewehr 98 but in a shorter carbine configuration. The Model 1935 was produced at d’Armes de L’État and FN Herstal from 1935 to 1940, until Belgium was occupied by Germany. This example serial number 26547, produced by Manufacture d’Armes de L’État (State Arms Factory) is in excellent overall condition. It retains 98% finish on the barrel, 97% finish on the receiver, trigger guard, and bolt, and has an excellent 8.5/10 bore. A great choice for any Mauser or World War Two collectors.
