The Sako Model 78 is a finely crafted Finnish bolt-action rimfire rifle, known for its precision, smooth operation, and high-quality fit and finish. Chambered in .22 LR, this rifle is ideal for small game hunting, target shooting, or training, offering excellent accuracy in a classic sporting platform. This example features a 22.5" barrel, a 5-round original detachable magazine, and both factory iron sights—including a Williams adjustable rear and ramped front—as well as a mounted Redfield Widefield 2–7x scope, providing flexibility for both traditional and optic-assisted shooting.
Weighing 7 lb 7.5 oz with a 13.5" length of pull, the rifle balances well and offers steady handling. The Redfield scope, equipped with a crosshair/peep-style reticle, remains in good condition with clear optics and a crisp sight picture.
This rifle is in very good overall condition, showing only typical wear for its age. The bore is clear with strong rifling, the action cycles smoothly, and the trigger breaks cleanly. The blued metal retains a pleasing appearance, while the Monte Carlo walnut stock features sharp checkering and classic Sako styling, complemented by a black Sako buttplate.
