Description:
The Star Model BM is a compact, single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm), famously known for its resemblance to the M1911 while being mechanically distinct. Produced by Star Bonifacio Echeverria, S.A. in Spain between 1972 and 1992, it served extensively as a police and military sidearm. Despite its compact size, the Star BM is built entirely of forged steel, making it heavy enough to effectively mitigate recoil. Unlike the 1911, it lacks a safety on the backstrap. The trigger is pinned at the top and pivots rather than sliding straight back. The manual thumb safety typically blocks the hammer (or disengages the sear) rather than blocking the sear's motion directly. It was a standard-issue sidearm for the Spanish Guardia Civil and saw use in various conflicts across Africa and Asia. 9mm Luger
