Description: The Model 1894 was Remington's first hammerless side by side shotgun. It was produced from 1894 to about 1910, and around 41,000 units were sold. They were known as solid, well-built guns from the company's Ilion, NY, era (pre-1920's), and were better quality, with a tighter fit and finish, than the later economy-grade Model 1900. Note that Damascus steel barrels from the era were typically proofed for black powder or early low-pressure smokeless powder loads and are not safe to fire modern loads without a thorough inspection by a qualified gunsmith. This one is an A-grade (entry level) model, dating from early 1905. The 30" Damascus steel barrels are choked tight on both sides, which was typical for a bird hunting gun at the time. It's in average used condition and has a crack across the butt plate. Sometimes it's difficult to capture in photographs the faint and/or faded markings on older guns, so if you have questions about this listing please feel free to give us a call at the Kearney Cabela's Gun Library. No box or case is included. 12 Gauge SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Chambers: 2 3/4" chambers Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Good Bore Condition: Bright Barrels: "30"" Damascus steel, proofed for black powder or early smokeless powder loads Triggers: "Dual triggers, no selector, tang mounted thumb safety Fore End: Checkered walnut fore end with Purdey-style push button release Butt Pad: Checkered walnut stock with plastic butt plate Weight: 8 lbs Sights: Silver front bead type.
