The Model 1952 Steyr, is advertised as "THE ORIGINAL MANNLICHER-SCHOENAUER" and retains many of the rifle's most distinctive features including the full-length European walnut stock, The express rifle sights, dual safeties, and the rotary magazine. These rifles are noted for their accuracy and reliability. The history of STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH runs back to the late 1860s and is interesting reading as the company took on many forms over the years, buying and merging and divesting of pieces of itself for nearly 175 years.
