Operating System: Short-stroke gas piston system, which offers cleaner operation than direct impingement, featuring a three-piece piston similar to the FN FAL.
Construction: Primarily stamped and welded steel receiver, making it cheaper and faster to produce than the forged aluminum AR-15.
Side-Folding Stock: A, often polymer, buttstock that hinges to the right side of the receiver for compact transport.
Recoil System: Features two recoil springs on guide rods situated inside the receiver, which allows for the folding stock, unlike the AR-15‚s stock-housed buffer tube.
