"Serial no. 54400. Manufactured in October 1917 by Eddystone Rifle Plant, chambered in .30-06 Springfield,26"" round barrel marked “E/Flaming Bomb/10-17." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. This rifle was later refurbished for WWII service as indicated by the “3GM-K" cartouche on the left side of the stock, reflecting U.S. reissue and inspection during the interwar or early WWII period. The Model 1917 served as the primary U.S. service rifle during WWI, with the majority of American forces equipped with this pattern in France. Overall the rifle remains in very good condition with typical service wear noted. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
