Description:
J.P. Sauer & Sohn Hammer Drilling – 16GA/16GA/9.3x72R – 1936 (Suhl, Germany)
Exceptional pre-war German hammer drilling by J.P. Sauer & Sohn, manufactured in 1936 in Suhl. A high-condition example retaining approximately 98% of its original case color—something rarely seen on drillings of this era.
Fitted with Krupp fluid steel barrels measuring 25 5/8", this gun features excellent original blue and mirror bores across all three barrels. The rifle barrel is chambered in the classic 9.3x72R, making this an ideal and versatile field gun.
The gun is equipped with rebounding hammers and a top tang sliding lever that deploys the rear sight. Lockwork is crisp and precise, with a set trigger on the front for the rifle barrel. Mechanically, it is exactly what you want to see—tight on face with strong lockup via double underbite lugs, Greener-style third fastener, and side clips.
The stock retains its original finish with sharp, well-defined checkering. Only light handling marks are present, with no cracks or structural issues.
