The Perazzi MX8, produced in Italy in 1983, is one of the most iconic and competition-proven over/under shotguns ever built. Designed for high-level target shooting, the MX8 has long been a dominant platform in Olympic trap and international competition, known for its precision, durability, and modular design.
Chambered in 12 gauge (2.75"), this example features 29.5" vent mid-rib barrels choked Improved Modified (.028") and Full (.040"), an ideal configuration for trap shooting and longer target presentations. The gun is built on Perazzi’s renowned action with a detachable trigger group, along with ejectors and a non-automatic safety, allowing for quick maintenance and reliability under heavy use. Weighing 8 lb 6 oz, it offers the stability and smooth swing expected of a dedicated competition gun.
The 11mm wide flat ventilated rib with a red fiber optic front sight provides a clear and consistent sighting plane, while the gun’s dimensions—1.25" DAC and 1.625" DAH—are tailored toward target shooting performance.
This example remains in very good overall condition, showing wear typical of age and use. The bores are clear, the trigger is crisp, and the action is smooth and locks up tight. The ejectors are strong and in-time. The blued action and barrels are well-preserved, and the receiver is tastefully marked with “Perazzi M-X-8” in gold inlay on the left side.
The walnut stock and forend are particularly attractive, featuring a high-comb target-style configuration with slight cast for a left-handed shooter, making this a desirable option for left-handed competitors. The wood shows strong checkering and is fitted with a black Perazzi recoil pad, completing the competition setup.
