Offered here for sale from Hansen & Hansen located just steps away from the original Ruger factory in Southport, CT and just acquired is an UNFIRED recreation of a RARE Civil War military target rifle.
Over the years and through our operation of the Ruger Collectors Assc. (RCA) we have handles literally thousands of Ruger firearms during our more than 5 decades in the business. It was acquired from the collection of a well known firearms industry past President Stephen Sanetti.
Mr. Sanetti joined Ruger in 1980 as the company’s first General Counsel (chief lawyer) and over 2 decades worked his way up through senior leadership. He became President in 2003 as well as Chief Operating Officer. After Ruger he became head of the industry National Shooting Sports Assc.
This specimen is a modern, high-end reproduction of one of the most famous precision rifles of the 19th century. This is a Parker-Hale Whitworth “Volunteer” style target rifle reproduction in .451/.45 caliber percussion muzzleloader made by Davide Pedersoli and imported/marketed by Navy Arms. It was styled after the original Whitworth rifle (1860s precision rifle) .
These are premium reproductions built for collectors, target shooters, and Civil War enthusiasts. The original Whitworth rifle was designed in the late 1850s by Sir Joseph Whitworth and famous for its hexagonal rifling, giving exceptional long-range accuracy used by elite marksmen (including Confederate sharpshooters) during the Civil War . It was arguably the most accurate military rifle of its time, capable of effective fire well beyond standard infantry muskets.
Parker-Hale made top-tier reproductions starting in the 1970s . Their Whitworth reproductions became the gold standard for reenactors and shooters . Parker-Hale stopped muzzleloader production around 1990. Tooling/design influence shifted to Italian makers. Around 2015–present, Pedersoli began producing new Whitworth reproductions marketed by Navy Arms .
Serial number CW03056 is consistent with modern Pedersoli production circa 2015–2020.

This particular specimen comes with MANY accessories including 50 cast paper-patch bullets, lubricated hexagonal wads, bullet mold and two individual original Whitworth hexagonal bullets from Bill Ruger’s desk. The complete outfit is UNFIRED in original box just a couple of slight storage marks.
