Springfield Model 1878 Trapdoor 32.5" .45-70 Single Shot Rifle.
Serial 116441 shows a late 1879 date of production accoring to National Park Sevice / Springfield Armory Hostorical Site, Credited to Albert Frasca, PH.D. - Robert Hill in their book The .45-70 Springfield.
Condition:
The exterior metal appears to be in very good condition with minimal piiting or signs of corrosion and appears to be in un restored condition. The bore is very good, it is shiny with no pitting or corrosion. Front and rear sights are assumed to be original and appear complete. Sling rings are all there. The stock does show signs of use, the left side has what might be a cross cut in it.
