Description:
NSN, .64 Caliber, 8" part octagon barrels with very good, lightly pitted bores. This is a handsome pair of pistols that retain about 70-75% of the original blue finish on the barrels, with mottled gray fading at the slightly flared muzzles of both pistols, as well as moderate pitting concentrated around the vents at the breeches. The top of each barrel has intricate gold floral motif inlays and geometric surrounds at the front sight blades. The locks have an overall bright gray patina with the maker’s name ahead of the cocks: "Pierre / Goullioud". The carved, pin-fastened stocks have raised foliate embellishments surrounding the barrel tangs, as well as the other stock furniture, and the brass fittings all have a bright yellow-ochre patina, including the tips of the original wooden ramrods. Both locks are fully functional and lock firmly at both half and full-cock. Pierre Goullioud (or alternately Gouilloud in some references) was a St. Etienne maker who was active in the late 18th century. These are very nice examples of his work, and are in fine overall condition. Antique;
