Description:
General Specs: Waffenfabrik Bern, 1945, 7.5x55mm Swiss, 9lbs. 5oz. LOP 12 3/4"
Serial Number:  852475

Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer a wonderful Karabiner Modell 1931 chambered in 7.7x55mm Swiss, the successor to the Schmidt-Rubin series of rifles designed by Eduard Rubin and Rudolph Schmidt. The rifle uses the Smidt-Rubin’s unique straight pull bolt action which unlocks the action, cocks the striker, ejects the spent casing and then chambers the next round, and locks the action all in one fluid pull/push movement. The Modell 31, officially adopted by the Swiss armed forces in 1933 until 1958 when it began to be gradually replaced by the Sturmgewehr 57. The main advantage the Kar. 31 achieved was shortening the bolt and receiver, which in turn allowed for a rifle length barrel and sight while keeping the overall length in line with the Modell 1911 Carbine. This example, serial number 852475, manufactured in 1945 by Waffenfabrik Bern, comes with a Model 1914 Pioneer Bayonet. Furthermore, under the metal buttplate resides a troop tag, displaying the soldier’s name and position. This rifle features a 26” barrel which retains 97% factory finish and has a mirror 9.5/10 bore. The receiver retains 99% factory finish, and trigger guard retains 98% factory finish. Please note, this rifle does have a small import mark on the muzzle. Overall, a unique Swiss bolt-action well regarded for their high accuracy and high quality, a great choice for any militaria collector.
