Description:
The Smith & Wesson Walther PPK/S-1 is a variant of the legendary Walther design produced under license by Smith & Wesson in Houlton, Maine, between approximately 2002 and 2012. It blends the classic concealability of the original PPK with a slightly longer grip and a modified design intended to improve shooter comfort and safety. The most significant change made by Smith & Wesson was the addition of an elongated beavertail. This design prevents "slide bite" which was a common complaint with older Walther-made models. The "S" stands for "Special," combining the shorter barrel and slide of the PPK with the larger frame and increased magazine capacity of the PP. The S&W models were primarily produced in high-quality stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance for concealed carry. A small pin protrudes from the rear of the slide when a round is chambered, providing both a visual and tactile status check. .380 ACP
