"Serial no. 564304. Manufactured in November 1918 by Remington Arms, chambered in .30-06 Springfield,26"" round barrel marked “R/Flaming Bomb/9-18." The bore is excellent with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The rifle remains in excellent condition with sharp, crisp markings on the barrel, receiver, and bolt. An eagle cartouche is present to the rear of the trigger guard, adding to its inspection and acceptance character. The Model 1917 served as the primary U.S. service rifle during WWI, with Remington-produced examples representing a significant portion of wartime production. Overall this is a very well-preserved and attractive example. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly. (Dallas Location)
