Description:
The Mauser Model 96/38 is a bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55?mm Swedish. It features a 24-inch barrel and retains the classic straight bolt handle configuration typical of Swedish military production. The receiver is dated 1900, and the rifle falls under Curio and Relic classification. It is built on the Mauser small-ring action design with a military blue finish and a smooth wood stock incorporating finger grooves along the forearm. A matching wooden handguard extends over the barrel, and the rifle is fitted with the original metal buttplate.
Standard military pattern sights include an adjustable rear sight and a fixed front blade. The bore condition is described as very good, showing strong rifling and a bright interior. The bolt action locks and cycles through the standard Mauser mechanism. This rifle is used and displays the configuration expected of arsenal-refinished Swedish Mausers converted to the 96/38 pattern, combining the long-rifle receiver with a shortened barrel assembly.
Included components are the cleaning rod mounted beneath the barrel and a leather sling attached to the stock swivels. The serial number is 0G53663, and all visible parts are reported to match. The rifle’s overall configuration reflects its original military pattern with service-type hardware and stock fittings consistent with Swedish Mauser production of the early twentieth century.
