Description:
The Remington Nylon 66 is one of the most innovative and recognizable rimfire rifles ever made, produced between 1959 and 1989. It is famous for its "structural nylon" stock, which was marketed as being virtually indestructible and requiring no lubrication. Has a 14-round tubular magazine, fed through the buttstock. Made from DuPont's "Zytel 101" nylon. The stock acts as the receiver's frame, with the steel components (like the bolt and barrel) sitting directly inside it. It is waterproof, warp-proof, and famously survived Remington's endurance tests of over 100,000 rounds without a failure. Because the steel bolt slides against nylon, Remington famously claimed the rifle required no oil or grease, which made it a favorite for use in extreme cold or dusty environments. The Nylon 66 was a massive commercial success for Remington, with over one million units produced.
