Description:
"Serial no. 90656. Manufactured in 1891 at Amberg Arsenal, chambered in 10.95mm,33 ½"" round barrel. The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are matching throughout, including the screws, reflecting a high degree of originality. The metal has aged to a grey patina with scattered surface oxidation consistent with age and service. Factory markings remain sharp and clearly legible. The stock shows expected light handling impressions while remaining in very good condition. The buttplate is regimental marked “B/L/NK/D.12," likely indicating issue to a Landwehr (reserve) battalion tied to a specific regional district, weapon number 12, reflecting continued service of earlier rifles in second-line units. The Model 1871 represents Germany’s first standard bolt-action service rifle, marking a major step forward in military small arms development. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
