Description:
"NSN. Manufactured circa 1840s,chambered in .69 caliber,40 ½"" round rifled barrel. The metal has aged to a smooth brown patina. A faint Liège proof mark is visible on the left side of the barrel, indicating Belgian manufacture. The lock plate is unmarked. The stock is very good, showing light handling impressions while remaining solid and well-preserved. Belgian-produced copies of the French Model 1842 were widely exported and saw use in various conflicts, including importation into the United States during the Civil War to supplement domestic production. The action holds at full cock and functions correctly. The musket is accompanied by a correct socket bayonet.
