When the lanyard ring was added the butt serial number was removed and the assembly number added as serial number 239. (See attached description in photos from Robert Best's book on New Army Revolvers regarding replacement serial numbers.) All assembly numbers match except the cylinder. In addition to the standard R.A.C. (Ranaldo A. Carr) inspector mark there is an additional inspector mark above the left grip L.E.B. (Leroy E Briggs). In 1918 the Army had Remington Arms-UMC repair and refubish revolvers for use in WW1. Leroy Briggs was the Army inspector at Remington.
